An industry first, new halogen-free material means no bromine of any kind
OCONOMOWOC, WIS. – ORBIS Corporation, an international manufacturer of sustainable reusable packaging and an expert in supply chain optimization, today announces it has received approval from Factory Mutual Insurance (FM) for a new non-halogenated fire-retardant material, for use in its family of FM-approved, fire retardant pallets. Effective immediately, ORBIS will offer this FM-approved halogen-free (HF) material in more than 18 pallets. Included among those are the 40 x 48 HF RackoCell® Pallet, which can edge-rack up to 2,200 lbs in the 40 inch direction in ambient temperatures.

ORBIS has offered a family of FM-approved, fire-retardant pallets for use in specialized applications for nearly a decade. While halogenated compounds have commonly been used within plastic products, there has been a global push for manufacturers to eliminate halogens from their products.
ORBIS has been proactively researching and testing a fire-retardant material, with no bromine of any kind, as an offering to customers who wish to enhance the safety, health and environmental impact of their supply chains. The company is proud to announce it is one of the first in the reusable packaging industry to receive approval from FM on a new halogen-free material.
