United Pallet Services, Inc. Expands Reach of pointGUARD Pallet Protector to Australia and New Zealand

Modesto, California, USA, 9/24/2014 —United Pallet Services, Inc. (UPSI) has signed off on a license agreement that formally grants UBEECO™ Packaging Solutions of Erskine Park NSW, Australia the exclusive rights to sell, market, and manufacture its pointGUARD Pallet Protector in the Australian and New Zealand markets. “This is a day that we are extremely proud of. This market has been on our radar for a long time,” said Wayne Randall, President of UPSI. “We have partnered with a company that truly sees how groundbreaking the pointGUARD really is and we couldn’t be more excited about the partnership that we have made.”

UPSI has developed and patented the pointGUARD, which are unique plastic inserts that attach to the entry points of a wood pallet, protecting it from forklift and strapping damage while also defending the product traveling on the pallet as well.

UBEECO™ Packaging Solutions manufactures warehouses and distributes industrial packaging. Their product line includes, wood cases, crates, pallets, and wood components. In addition to this, they also handle on- site machinery packing, storage, management & distribution of fiberboard products including the exclusive QIKPAK range, and distribution of a large range of packaging consumables such as industrial tapes, bubble wrap, etc. “On discovering pointGUARD, we at UBEECO™ realized its unique packaging and pallet protection characteristics and the potential savings it can deliver to our closed loop pallet customers around Australia and New Zealand,” said Joseph Borg, Managing Director at UBEECO. “Simply put, pointGUARD dovetails into UBEECO™’s Innovation Strategy. In acquiring the exclusive license for pointGUARD, UBEECO™ expands the range of packaging products for the benefit of our customers. The pointGUARD product adds value to our customers as UBEECO™ Packaging successfully strides forward in continuously pursuing its pioneered concept of being the ‘Project Manager in Industrial Packaging’ for every customer.” The UBEECO™ GROUP is a family owned business that is 44 years old with 3 brothers that are still actively involved in operations.

This is the third international license granted for the pointGUARD. Its footprint expanded outside the US last year through agreements made with companies in Costa Rica and Germany. These agreements included the territories of Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Russia and Israel.

The pointGUARD Pallet Protector will be exhibiting this year at PACK EXPO International, held November 2-5th in Chicago’s McCormick Place. Their booth will be located inside the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) Pavilion in booth #6955.

UPSI was started in 1994 when two pallet companies merged to form one of Northern California’s largest pallet companies. Always keeping an eye out towards innovating trends, they are poised to meet the demands and challenges that face the pallet industry in the future.
