In early October the Board of the Reusable Packaging Association adopted a new long-range Strategic Plan. The plan was developed to deliver more benefits to current and potential members while also advancing the reusable packaging industry.
“I make it a point to come here every year”. We heard this comment repeatedly from attendees who stopped at the RPA booth within the Reusable Packaging Pavilion at PACK EXPO in Chicago. The Pavilion, which was home to 26 RPA members, has become a recognized and must-see stop for PACK EXPO attendees who are interested in reusable packaging and solutions.
Herman Miller Inc. is the winner of the Reusable Packaging Association’s first annual Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award. The winner was announced and the award was presented at PACK EXPO in Chicago. Herman Miller won the award for using reusable packaging for the shipping and handling of a component on a chair assembly line, saving the company $46,000 annually in material and labor.

Much of the reusable packaging in the supply chain is utilized internally, from one business to another, says Mike Hachtman, board chairman of the Reusable Packaging Association. But the strongest growth is found in retail because companies see the value in it.
