Modern Materials Handling magazine interviewed two members of the RPA for an article about the role of reusables in helping a company meet sustainability initiatives. “Another way to keep material from going to the landfill is to use returnables and reusables. Reusable plastic bulk containers can save companies with a large shipping infrastructure in many industries millions of dollars annually, as well as help keep tons of cardboard out of the waste stream.

As the value of plastics and other materials used to create reusable packaging increases, more and more manufacturers are dealing with reusable asset theft. Food Manufacturing spoke with Bob Klimko, chairman of the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA), about the growth of the problem and how companies can prevent asset theft.

The RPA’s Reusable Packaging Pavilion at PACK EXPO hummed with activity during the three-day show in Las Vegas. The 5,000 square foot pavilion was home to a record 22 member/suppliers of services and solutions for reusable packaging. Several exhibitors reported increased attendance and sales as a result of being part of the Pavilion.
