WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 27, 2026) – The Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) has officially opened the application period for the 2026 Excellence in Reusable Packaging Awards, recognizing leadership, measurable impact, and innovation across the reusable transport packaging industry. Submissions are being accepted now through May 1, 2026.
Now in its 15th year, the Excellence Awards spotlight organizations that are driving meaningful advancements in reusable packaging systems, forward-thinking design, and enabling technologies that strengthen supply chain performance.
Companies may apply in one of three categories:
Excellence in Reusable Packaging System
Honors primary user companies and associated suppliers that have implemented reusable packaging solutions, delivering measurable environmental and economic benefits within business-to-business supply chains. Applicants are required to provide quantified performance results.
Excellence in Reusable Packaging Design Innovation
Recognizes commercially deployed product designs that introduce novel materials, enhance functionality, or improve performance, creating new value or overcoming supply chain challenges.
Excellence in Reusable Packaging Product Technology
Celebrates the integration of smart technologies, automation, or digital capabilities that enhance reusable transport packaging performance, visibility, and operational efficiency.
An independent panel of industry experts will review all submissions. Judging will be completed by July 31, and award recipients will be notified in mid-August 2026. For full eligibility criteria, program terms, and submission guidelines, visit the RPA website.
Award recipients will be formally recognized during the Excellence Awards Ceremony held at PACK EXPO International Chicago, October 18–21. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, October 20, at the close of the two-day Reusable Packaging Learning Center program.
“Today’s leaders in reusable packaging are advancing complete systems, breakthrough design, and smart technology integration,” says RPA President and CEO Tim Debus. “Whether through improved unit load and transport efficiencies, superior product protection and quality control, or full supply chain visibility and automated material handling, these organizations are proving that reuse drives sustainability, resiliency, and performance. The Excellence Awards honor those setting the standard.”
Primary users are not required to be RPA members to apply. Primary user winners receive a complimentary one-year RPA membership, lodging to attend and present at the awards ceremony, and industry-wide recognition. All winners receive a commemorative trophy, public relations and social media exposure, and publication of their case studies on the RPA website.
The 2025 award recipients exemplified the measurable impact of reusable packaging across systems, design, and technology. General Motors and KAMPS were recognized in the Reusable System category for executing a national pallet management program that improved asset visibility, reduced costs, and lowered environmental impact. Cabka and CHEP earned the Design Innovation award for the Zirconic Foldable Large Container, while inotec group received the Product Technology award for its in-mold RFID labeling solution that enhanced long-term asset tracking performance. Together, these achievements reflect the continued advancement of reusable packaging solutions across the supply chain.
