– The Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) announced its 2014 Executive Committee and Board members today. This is the association’s largest board ever and includes members from two end-user companies, The Kroger Company and Herman Miller. The RPA is the leading trade association dedicated to promoting the expansion and value of reusable packaging systems for greater supply chain efficiencies, increased environmental benefits, and reduced costs.
During Pack Expo this year, IFCO and Ratto Brothers gave a presentation about the results they have collected on the impact of using RPCs in the produce supply chain.
“Looking for a way to make your supply chain more efficient? You might want to consider reusable packaging. Reusable packaging includes pallets, racks, bulk containers, bins, dollies, handheld containers, and dunnage typically made from durable materials such as plastic, wood, and metal.
“I make it a point to come here every year”. We heard this comment repeatedly from attendees who stopped at the RPA booth within the Reusable Packaging Pavilion at PACK EXPO in Chicago. The Pavilion, which was home to 26 RPA members, has become a recognized and must-see stop for PACK EXPO attendees who are interested in reusable packaging and solutions.
Since its inception in 1999 as the Reusable Pallet and Container Coalition (RPCC), the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) has steadily expanded its membership, resources and expertise, strengthening its position as the industry’s recognized leading source and voice for the adoption of reusable packaging systems across all industries.

Reduce, reuse, recycle. These have been the three legs of the stool called sustainable packaging for about as long as I can remember. But these days it seems that only two of the three—reduce and recycle—are talked about all that much. So it’s refreshing to see recent reports confirming that reusable containers are alive and well.
