PECO Pallet, Inc. recently announced that the company has been approved as a pallet participant of Walmart Canada, giving vendors the option to utilize PECO’s high-quality wood block pallets when shipping into Walmart Canada locations.
Pallets used to transport fruits and vegetables to retail outlets nationwide increasingly play a vital role. How those pallets are loaded and unloaded has a significant impact on the bottom line.
IFCO Systems’ reusable plastic container for bananas hasn’t officially hit the market, but the new RPC already is garnering attention from the industry.
IFCO’s Caja de Oro, or box of gold, recently was nominated for a product innovation award during Fruit Logistica in Berlin. The container, which is made of 100% recyclable polypropylene, has been in trials with several North American retailers in the past 18 months, said Hillary Femal, vice president of global marketing.

IFCO SYSTEMS, the global leader in Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs) for fresh products, today announced the expansion of its life cycle assessment research comparing RPCs and display-ready corrugated boxes used to ship fresh produce to grocery retailers. The new study, expected to be published in May, will add human and eco-toxicity impact categories to the areas currently reviewed, which include solid waste, energy demand, water usage and more. The report is being produced by Franklin Associates, a Division of ERG, a leading consulting company specializing in life cycle assessment and solid waste management.
